YahooTV is a free service run by (of course) Yahoo. Search for TV listings, videos, photos, news and gossip, or full episodes.

Almost like TiVo, YahooTV allows the viewer to choose a time that is personally convenient, and of course, pausing is always an option.

Ads and commercials are kept to a minimum, and the website is free and simple. Check your email, grab last week’s episode of the Office, check your horoscope, stocks, celebrity gossip….Yahoo has it all!

XBox 360… Arcade Version

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

arcade version

The new XBox 360 Arcade version was finally released. For about two months, the console was only rumor. Microsoft didn’t make any announcements until the last minute. Essentially, the 360 Arcade is the same as the now discontinued Core version, with only few changes. There is no hard drive, therefore no backward compatibility (can’t play any original XBox games). The system comes with a wireless controller, a memory unit for saving, and HD output capabilities (cable sold separately). The Arcade also comes with 5 full arcade games, not demos (PAC-MAN Championship Edition, UNO, Luxor 2, Boom Boom Rocket and Feeding Frenzy). With a broadband internet connection and the included storage device, instant access to XBox Live is available. If you have an XBox already and want to access XBox Arcade games, go to the arcade section in XBox Live.

The XBox 360 Arcade is part of Microsoft’s movement into entertaining the whole family. It comes pre-set to restrict younger users (settings can be changed though). More games targeted at younger audiences are also coming soon.

Pros to this system: Cheaper than the other versions ($280)… Comes with 5 full games

Cons: No Backward compatibility.

Tech Crunch

Monday, October 15th, 2007

I’m not the most tech-savvy person out there, but I am getting much better.

One of my favorite tools to stay on top of our high-tech society? www.techcrunch.com. TC had daily news with the latest in technology news. Yesterday I learned that iPhones are not good for the environment, the day before that I got some scoop on one of my internet addictions: Facebook.

The entries are written in a professional manner, yet even the not-so-tech-savvy can still process everything with ease.

With today being the era of quick information, TechCrunch is a prime example. I love being the first of my friends to hear about an interesting story or website, and TechCrunch offers me this!

Check out the site and let us know what you think!

This is what the the Ray-Ban Folding Wayfarer would say — if sunglasses could talk, that is.

In a world where smaller is better — iPods, phones — these are sure to be highly covetable. With special hinges, these classic shades fold up into a case the size of your palm.

Of course, it helps that the Wayfarer is the shade of the moment in the fashion world — but don’t worry about them going out of style. Audrey wore them in the 50’s, JFK in the 60’s, and a slew of others — including Ferris Bueller and the Blues Brothers — in the 80s. This iconic style is sure to stick around.

It is really beautiful.

Did I mention this new iPod Nano stores video, too?

In sync with the new iPhone, the new iPod nano comes in five sleek aluminum colors, including one Product(RED) choice. These third generation iPod nanos will play 8 hours of video, and 24 hours of music with one charge. That’s right, 24 hours!!

My hot pink 2nd generation nano isn’t looking so glamourous anymore…

These fabulous new gadgets hit the market September 28th!

Perez Hilton.

Sunday, September 9th, 2007

It’s everyone’s guilty obsession: www.perezhilton.com. The infamous celebrity gossip site is updated several times daily with hilarious yet rather primitive critiques, adventures, and sightings of the glamorous people we love the hate and hate to love.

The 29-year-old author of the site, and now celebrity Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., writes under the pseudonym Perez Hilton.

ph

Aw, Paris and Perez unite!

Of course, ignore it if you are easily offended. “Perez” can make some pretty judgmental remarks, and has even been the root of some serious problems with the law because of his comments.

But the site is really entertaining, and even though the prose isn’t really….well, prose, it’s still fun to read the mostly biased opinions of someone in such close proximity to the stars.

One of our other favorites, William Sledd, seems to have a bit of a competition with Perez, so check them both out [www.youtube.com/williamsledd, www.perezhilton.com] and pick your favorite!

So, why are we talking about Perez now? Because the day after tomorrow, September 11th, his reality show on VH1 premieres! “What Perez Sez” is a series of six one-hour episodes. So tune in on Tuesday and let us know what you think!

Next Crash

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

Hey everyone! Happy241st day of 2007!

I constantly find myself in a sea of blogs. Recently, I discovered the very new www.nextcrash.com, a technology blog. The team at NextCrash writes about the latest in technology and then gives their input as to whether or not they think the particular technological endeavor will take off or crash and burn.

Some entries are a little over my head, but the site encompasses so many different subjects, I find myself really interested in quite a few articles, definitely including the latest post, which reviews free online music sites.

The authors all write in a very relaxed and simple prose, so a reader can easily skim through several articles in a small amount of time.

Check it out and tell us at LuxBuzz your thoughts. Any articles really interest you? Do you disagree with a NextCrash verdict? Let us know!

Internet Time Capsules

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

It sounds kinda geeky, but it’s actually pretty cool. EmailCapsules.com offers a way to reflect. On the site, you can write an email and have it sent to yourself in the future. These can be used to explore changes you’ve gone through. The first time I did it, I used it as a joke. Then I realized it could be used for better, more useful things. I decided to set out goals for my summer vacation. I recently received the email, as classes start Monday for me. Normally, I would forget all about my goals, but the email was a reminder that I actually made them. It also helped me realize I actually reached goals. It’s a good idea to make one of these e-capsules. Use it to describe how things are now, make predictions, set goals and explore your past and transitions.

William Sledd!

Friday, August 10th, 2007

It’s completely official. A star has clearly emerged from the mess of spoofs and hidden talents on YouTube: William Sledd.

I login to YouTube regularly to check out the latest videos of my favorite subscription, and maybe catch one I missed. His hit videos “Ask a Gay Man” have turned out incredibly controversial feedback from viewers all over the world.

But whatever you believe, you must admit that it is amazing he went from working at a GAP store in Kentucky to internet stardom. And the media is really noticing, as he has been featured in various big-name mags, including Glamour.

I did forget to add this to my fall must-have list: a SleddHead tee! I am all for supporting William for several reasons:

-He is so confident with who he is

-He is practical and incredibly stylish

-It’s amazing that someone can be put into the spotlight by something as common as YouTube (I mean, face it, you probably know at least one person with a video up on the site).

-He does the videos in the same place almost every video, so that his wall has become an icon!

-All of his videos hilarious and intriguing

-He dresses fabulously

-Let’s face it, he bakes yummy pink things! (See wedding cake and cupcake editions)

Anyway, be sure to subscribe to his YouTube account and watch those phenomenal videos!
